This independent piece was created while introducing the drawing capabilities of Adobe Illustrator to a Graphic Design class at the University of the District of Columbia. Students were assigned the task of designing a mask poster using entirely original artwork while maintaining a fully vector-based final composition.
All visual elements were required to be created from scratch, and students were encouraged to explore the wide range of tools and utilities available within Adobe Illustrator. Research into mask traditions and cultural variations from throughout world history informed the development of the designs.
The work shown below demonstrates the use of multiple Illustrator techniques and utilities to create a cohesive and expressive vector-based composition.
