Branding a Restaurant

First year graphic design students at the University of Minnesota — Duluth, were asked to create branding for a local eatery of their choice. The logo would be used for a take-out app design and as inspiration for identifying icons used within the app. The visual language of the brand would also be used for exterior signage.

Students were encouraged to explore potential branding solutions as marks, letterform combinations, and the entire name of the restaurant spelled out. The process included exploring the application of the logo onto exterior signage and initial app designs prior to finalizing the visual identity. Cultural context and the history of the restaurant and its cuisine were also given consideration.
